Vision
Kindred Rhythms is a cultural initiative rooted in the African diaspora and expressed through jazz.
It exists to honor lineage, cultivate exchange, and use music as a connective practice across communities, generations, and geographies.
Jazz, in this context, is not entertainment alone.
It is a language of memory, presence, and shared responsibility.
Origin
Kindred Rhythms grew out of a lifetime of musical practice, travel, teaching, and reflection.
Through sustained engagement in Africa and across the African diaspora, it became clear that jazz functions not only as an artform, but as a bridge — linking histories, values, and ways of listening that transcend borders.
Kindred Rhythms is an answer to that recognition.
Focus
The work centers on:
The emphasis is on depth, not scale.
How It Takes Shape
Kindred Rhythms may include:
Each initiative is shaped by context and relationship, not replication.
Relationship to the Guitarlosopher
Kindred Rhythms is the outward expression of the same values that inform my music, teaching, and writing.
Where the Guitarlosopher articulates a way of thinking and living, Kindred Rhythms applies those principles in shared spaces — through sound, conversation, and collective presence.
Looking Forward
Kindred Rhythms is intentionally evolving.
Its growth is guided by listening, alignment, and responsibility rather than urgency. Partnerships and programs will develop organically, in response to genuine need and shared purpose.
